Construction Coordinator

The Construction Coordinator is responsible for overseeing construction, renovation, and maintenance projects both on and off campus. This role provides leadership to construction crews, coordinates subcontractors and materials, ensures safe job site practices, and supports the overall mission and culture of Sheepgate through hands-on leadership and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
Construction & Project Management
- Coordinate and oversee construction, renovation, and maintenance projects on and off campus.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Sheepgate and clients, vendors, contractors, and community partners.
- Prepare project estimates, bids, and budgets for construction projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors, schedules, and project timelines to ensure work is completed efficiently and professionally.
- Order and manage construction materials, equipment, and deliveries.
- Monitor project expenses and maintain accurate budget records.
- Ensure all work is completed according to safety standards, building codes, and organizational expectations.
Crew Leadership & Student Development
- Supervise and mentor students and staff working on construction crews.
- Provide leadership that promotes teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and personal growth.
- Implement and enforce OSHA-approved safety practices on all job sites.
- Document and report any incidents, injuries, or safety concerns in a timely manner.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records related to projects, expenses, receipts, and construction activity.
- Submit financial documentation and reports to the business office promptly.
- Assist with facility maintenance planning and campus improvement projects as needed.
- Perform additional duties assigned to support ministry operations.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate degree in construction management, building trades, facilities management, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent construction experience and practical knowledge may be considered in place of formal education.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction, facilities maintenance, project coordination, or related work preferred.
Certifications
- OSHA certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Working knowledge of construction methods, safety practices, budgeting, and project coordination.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical documents, and construction specifications.
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and email communication.
- Ability to work independently while also leading teams effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrates professionalism, flexibility, reliability, and a positive attitude.

Background Requirements

Working Conditions
This position involves a combination of indoor and outdoor work environments, including construction sites, maintenance areas, offices, driving, and operating tools or machinery. Evening or weekend work may occasionally be required based on project schedules or ministry needs.
